Dr. Tania Urmee
Tania Urmee is a leading expert in Renewable Energy field with focus on rural electrification and Sustainable development. She has undertaken research and project developments in a wider socio-cultural and geographical context including Bangladesh, Fiji, Samoa, Kiribati, Uganda, South Africa, Kenya, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia and Thailand.
Over the past Twenty years, Tania’s research was focused on Renewable Energy program design, management, implementation and policy analysis, and the improvement of the energy efficiency particularly in the built environment and in small and medium industry. She is experienced in the use of stakeholder research techniques on community engagement in climate change and sustainable energy policy for developing countries. She made important contribution to Grameen Shakti in developing the most successful business model of solar PV based rural electrification through microfinance, as well as she developed and implemented rural livelihoods improvement project in Bangladesh and Thailand.
Currently, Tania is a senior Lecturer at School of Engineering and Information Technology, Murdoch University. Tania holds her PhD in Renewable Energy from Murdoch University, Australia and Masters in Energy Technology from Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand. She has authored/co-authored over 50 referred scientific journal and conference papers and book chapters.
