Michael is researching how Australia can convert its vast potential to generate renewable energy into energy-intensive exports. 

Michael Lord is also Head of Research at award-winning climate think tank Beyond Zero Emissions where he explores opportunities to eliminate emissions from the manufacturing sector. He was lead author of BZE’s Electrifying Industry report showing the benefits of switching from fossil fuels renewable electricity in industrial heat processes. He also wrote Rethinking Cement – the world’s first report to show how to eliminate emissions from the cement sector. 

Michael joined BZE from an environmental consultancy, where he advised local governments and the private sector on reducing emissions and managing climate risk. Before that Michael was the infrastructure lead on the UK Government's Climate Ready program, working with energy and transport operators to improve their climate resilience.
